Darrow Road Wesleyan Church
What We Believe
The mission of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church is to glorify God by building
His Kingdom through worship, outreach, nurture, and compassion
As we look toward the future, it is the intention of Darrow Road
Wesleyan Church to continue to develop into a body of believers
reflecting an image of God and His Kingdom that is genuine in
expression, active in participation, intentional in purpose and relevant
in ministry. We are a people committed to our membership in the Church
Universal and the local body of Christ. As a church and individuals, we
recognize that worship is a primary privilege of God’s people, in which
we participate daily through private devotion and corporate expression.
We recognize the vital importance of Christian maturity in all believers
that develops within each of us a heart impassioned for holiness. We are
pushing on in Christian maturity as is evidenced in the fruitfulness of
the Spirit and of the spiritual reproduction of Believers through God’s
grace among us.
We are involved in God’s ministry, reversing the common trend that 20%
do 80% of the work. We are immersed in Spirit led activities that allow
each individual to express the created natures and gifts that God has
provided them.
We are passionate about those who are separate from God and lost in sin.
We understand that each of us is commissioned and empowered by God to
share the Gospel with all we encounter. We are a church convinced that
the ultimate call of each believer is to both become and produce
disciples, moving everyone from the initial experience of salvation into
the fuller experience of a changed nature influenced by love. We are
acutely aware of the needs of our world and surrounding community and
seek to bring comfort by meeting those needs for which we have
resources. Overall, our church can be described through its involvement
in outreach, nurture, community compassion and worshipful celebration.
Our History
The congregation organized on July 10, 1950 when a group of about 20
church folks began meeting in an abandoned School on Sunday afternoons.
As the congregation grew, they changed their meeting time from
afternoons to Sunday morning services.
Additions to the small building were built but it soon became
apparent that a new church building would be needed. Delight knew no
bounds when the people were given a plot of ground near a blacktop road
from farmer David Erickson. At last in 1988-89 a new big church was
built on this property which we enjoy today and it was built debt free.
We are located south of Superior, Wisconsin at 4020 South Darrow Road.
Take WI Hwy 35 (Tower Avenue) south to County Hwy C. Turn left on C, go
one mile, turn right on Darrow Road. Go one mile to the church.
