Darrow Road Wesleyan Church Children's Ministries

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Matthew 19:14

Darrow Road Wesleyan Church presents a unified Bible based curriculum for Christ centered education. The lessons in Children’s Church, Sunday School, and Faithweavers build on the same Bible point for the week. This allows parents to be able to reinforce the lessons at home as they also have studied the same Bible point in Adult Sunday School.

Sunday School is the mainstay of Christian education. Our Sunday School program is for ages preschool through adult and meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Curriculum is based on the same Bible point for all ages.

Children’s Church: Children worship with their families at 10:00 am until after the offering at which time they are excused for children’s church. The lessons of the day are presented in an age appropriate manner through songs, crafts, and Bible stories.

Our Faithweaver Friends meets on Wednesday afternoons from 3:45 to 5:00 pm during the school year.  This program is geared for children ages 3-5th grade. Our curriculum for 2011 encourages children to learn about the love of God through songs, games, crafts and fellowship. Memory verses are chosen for each week.

WKFM (Wesleyan Kids for Mission) will be the first Sunday of every month of the school year during children’s church at 10:00 am. Children will learn how to be gardeners with God by loving His Word, living like Jesus, and sharing His love like missionaries everywhere. This will be an exciting year as we all grow!

VBS (Vacation Bible School) is one week August every year from 9am-noon. The themed week features Bible Points, Crafts, games, songs, snacks, worship and fellowship. VBS is for children ages preschool through 5th grade. Older children are welcome to attend as helpers. Children also have a service project for the week. The week’s activities cumulate with a Friday evening program for parents and friends and highlights some of the lessons learned during the week.

Kid’s Camp is a Wisconsin District camp that is held each June at Lake Nebagamon.  Kid's Camp dates for 2012 are June 11-15. Watch for registration materials. Children from all over Wisconsin who have completed 3rd  through 5th grades stay overnight at camp from Monday through Friday afternoon.  Children get to make new friends, learn about the love of God, enjoy swimming, canoeing, hiking, and other outdoors activities under the watchful care of qualified counselors. As this may be the first time away from home for some, the counselors are trained to handle homesickness and encourage children to have fun in a safe setting. Lifelong friendships are often made at Kid’s camp.
