August 19 – 1 Peter 5:1-11

What does it mean to be humble and sober minded?
How do trusting God and being firm in our faith go hand in hand?
Since God loves and cares for us, why do we keep trying to do things on our own?
How does one guard their faith?

August 20 – 1 John 2:12-14

Do we ever become sinister with our faith?
Does our faith breed confidence in ourselves, or God who provides our salvation?
How often do we need to be reminded of the simple truths?

August 21 – John 21:15-19

Do we love God more than anything else?
If God already knows everything, why do we try to make Him believe otherwise?

This is the last message of our sermon series called “Flipped”. In it we have looked at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. That message turned the world upside down! As we draw to a close, Jesus challenges us to make a choice. Do we want to follow the crowd along the wide and easy road towards destruction? Or, are we willing to do the heavy lifting in our own spiritual lives to stay on the narrow path? This is the way that leads to life. It is not the easy path, but it is the path that brings the greatest joy. Join us as we decide which path to take.

This is week 5 of a six week series called “Flipped”. In it, we are looking at the Sermon on the Mount, and how Jesus turned the world upside down with it! Today we examine materialism. Charity is a difficult topic! Many people today sincerely need help. Sadly, many other people abuse the generosity of others. In this message we will look to one aspect of giving found in the Sermon on the Mount. Lord willing, this can give us wisdom to help discern how God is leading us in our own acts of charity.
